The Canadian School of Ballet was established in Winnipeg in 1938 by Dr. Gweneth Lloyd, O.C. and Betty Farrally, O.C., founders of The Royal Winnipeg Ballet and directors of the dance programme at the Banff Centre. Their contribution to dance in Canada has been well documented. Mel Brown and Lori Larson, mentored by Lloyd and Farrally, took over the studio in 1985 and were dedicated to preserving the legacy set out for them in shaping the future of dance for future generations.
